Jambo, I'm Christopher, founder and safari guide at I Dream of Africa safaris, also known as your "Best Buddy in the Bush". I invite you to experience the beauty of my home country, Tanzania.

Our Story

Founded by Christopher Samwel, a passionate conservationist with over 30 years of experience, I Dream of Africa Safaris is more than just a tour operator — it’s a legacy.

Born and raised in the wilderness of Tanzania, Christopher's journey began in the shadow of Mt. Meru and Mt. Kilimanjaro, where he grew up immersed in the beauty of the African bush.

When you travel with us, you’re supporting a locally owned and operated business that empowers its community.

This family-run company is also a story of generations. Christopher’s son, Warren Samwel, has joined the team, bringing fresh energy and expertise in marketing and guiding. With a passion for wildlife and photography, Warren embodies the family’s commitment to conservation and sharing the wonders of Tanzania with the world.

We pride ourselves on personalized safari experiences.

Whether you're dreaming of action-packed wildlife encounters or serene moments immersed in nature, we specialize in designing flexible private safaris that ensure every day matches your pace and preferences.

Christopher believes in going beyond chasing the iconic Big 5. He invites travellers to slow down and embrace the wonders of the Little 5 and everything in between. His deep knowledge of wildlife, birding, and habitats, gained through extensive training and years in the bush, has earned him the title of “Your Best Buddy in the Bush.”

Dietary restrictions we accomodate on safari

Food is a big part of a vacation and we ensure our gusts have plenty of delicious options to accomodate many different dietary preferances including:

Vegetarian And Vegan

Tanzanian food is a celebration of fresh, wholesome ingredients—many of which are naturally vegetarian. From hearty bean stews and slow-cooked pulses to vibrant vegetable curries, fresh salads, and comforting soups, Tanzanian cuisine offers rich flavors without the need for meat.

Gluten free / CELiac

We’ve welcomed many guests with gluten sensitivities and celiac, and they’ve found plenty to enjoy in Tanzanian cuisine. While grains like wheat are used in some dishes, many traditional meals are naturally gluten-free like rice, plantains, beans, vegetables, and grilled meats.

Dairy Free

Dairy isn’t a major part of most traditional Tanzanian meals, which makes it easy for guests who are dairy-free to eat well and confidently. Many staple dishes like stews, grilled meats, vegetable curries, rice, and plantains are naturally free from milk, cheese, or cream.
